Shocked and sad of more bad news... Sad

"Chris Squire, the co-founder and longtime bassist of prog rock icons Yes and the only member of the group to feature on every studio album, has passed away just over a month after revealing that he was suffering from a rare form of leukemia. Squire was 67."

Fragile, The Yes Album, and Close to the Edge...3 of my all time favorite rock albums, and Chris is on all 3.

Damn shame to hear about his passing.

Another very sad loss to cope with. Yes were pivotal to me in my early years - the making of music that is art. Once again we find ourselves saying, "Such a sad day, but his legacy will never be forgotten."

RIP Squire.

I play Big Generator and Union from time to time. Good albums.

this photo marks my introduction to Yes' music in 1977

I clearly remember the day I visited my favourite record shop and was impressed by the six panel cover of their brand new album 'Going for the One'. Convinced by the shopowner I bought it and the rest is history...

The music blew and still blows me away. My first concert (af the age of 17) was Yes' Going for the One' gig in Rotterdam in 1978 which I still consider 1 of the 3 best concerts I have ever attended, in their classic line-up, top notch an unforgettable and priceless experience which proved how perfectly well the voices of Jon Anderson and Chris Squire blended...

the picture was taken at the Lake of Geneva and is one of the images that was used for the inside cover of their GFTO album

fond memories...

"Going for the One" also was my introduction to YES (although it was in 1986 rather, I think). It's still one of my favorite albums ever - especially because of "Awaken" (but I love the rest of it as well).

But it lasted as long as 2003 (I think) until I saw them for the first and only time live (...actually, Mathias Brüssel attended the same concert, but we didn't know each other yet).

It was one of the few rock concerts I went to with my wife. I did hop SO much that they would play "Awaken" and: HURRAY! they did - but: my wife was feeling sick because of the smoke in the hall (smoking was still allowed in there back then) and told me she couldn't stand it anymore - so we left, half way through the song; it was one of the very few moments when I asked myself if getting married was such a bright idea after all... Shocked
