All the UK retailers have the MS20 listed at 499 GBP *
This is quite annoying because 599 USD converts to approx 375 GBP
so a price level of 399 GBP would be good, the extra 100 quid is blatant gouging
Twats

* and don't say that Korg sets the price because (a) retail price maintenance
has been illegal since the sixties, and (b) if they are then that's a cartel, also illegal

You have to view it from a different angle, it´s something to look forward to.

Robin Wood´s waiting list very much reminds me of what was common in the former German Democratic Republic... when a child was born, the parents would place an order for a Trabant car. When the child was old enough to retire, the car would be delivered. SynthexOne is still young enough. In my case, an EMS order would be pointless.

Not sure whether you can run a business this way, let alone make a living from that.

That is exactly what I find so challenging - no matter if it is about to work with digital tools or just in general.

To be able to define the own limitations in a "creative" context is one of the most important and basic means of expression, I'd say.
[...]

You need limits in order to prevent yourself from getting lost. Being unlimited is like a liquid without a container. Call it "landmarks" if you don´t like the term "limits".

"Das, was passiert in der Liebe / die Entgrenzung, / das Ausufern / oder aber die Betäubung / bis zu einem Punkt. / Dem Punkt, / an dem nur noch / "Etwas" / übrigbleibt." (Einstürzende Neubauten -- "Redukt")

Apologies for the German quote.

You're forgetting we have a 20% sales tax added onto the price.

i'm not an analog expert but for me this is the Poly-6.
I love the SSM filters but doubt it would be perfectly replicated...well...why not ?
In the other hand, as I grow older, it's more and more difficult to use real machines and I prefer the ease of virtual (synthesis and multisamples).
My next project though (begining in 2014 ??) will probably mix hardware and software.

Ther is only a very, very low ales tax in the USA. And you don't have to pay it, if you buy your things in a different state then yours. At least it was like this years ago. But I bet it did not change since then.

Btw, is it true that an EMS Synthi A costs only about 1600 UK pounds? Second hand they go for thousands more.

The price list dates back to 1998 when 1,600 Pound was still a lot of money for an AKS...

I think prices have doubled, and it seems most people who have finally managed to get one from the new batch of AKSs put them up for auction on eBay in an instant...

There is a lot of silly people in synth universe, but EMS people seem to be a class of their own.
