I have been testing it these days and I think it sounds superb. Anyone else who tried it.

The overall interface is a dream compared to 7.4 and the new plug ins sound cool.

Minus: the people of Digidesign seem to be inspired a bit too much on Logic Pro 8. Although you get less audio material with it than with Logic.

Hi René.... Oh... this topic has been inactive for a long time!!

But, yes, I have been working with Pro Tools 8 LE recently... In 2009 was new software, not today... In fact, digidesign as a mark will be avid in a few days... I use to work with Avid as a Video Editor, and perhaps it will be easier to work with Protools and Avid together.

Regards!

Well i upgraded from protools 7 to 8 last year and have found it to be very usable i would also recommend the fx expansion vst-rtas wrapper to enable use of all the VST effects/softsynths there are out there.

I use Logic mainly but also have PT8 (m-powered) and for another project Cubase
I find they all have advantages but on a Mac, Logic just works for me.
Cubase seems the deepest in some ways but I wouldn't buy it myself (I got it free for a job I'm doing) Great for the power user, but loads of features I will never use and not quite as nicely laid out.
For audio work and editing, PT still seems the easiest but Logic isn't far behind and the other features in Logic are ahead in my book.

But all are great packages. None of them would stop anyone doing what they need to.

Thanks to you René!

I started using cubase on 1991... so I have a bit of a romantic idea of what this software is... I started with pro-tools only a few years ago... but, as I use to edit video with Avid, I'm learning about Pro-tools more and more every day...

As I don't use Mac... I feel not very familiar with Logic... I should try, perhaps xD

Regards!
