Two words: Logic Studio.

A complete recording studio and suite of instruments for a fraction of what it cost back in the (cross-platform) eMagic days.

And you would be right, BUT I have also been using Cubase on a PC and if you get into it, it's a very serious bit of software too.. not quite the package Logic is, but still everything you need.

Andy, you can go along with PC if you like. But I would go along then with XP with SP3 and not Vista.

Thankfully I bought a white Macbook with FW last week and are very happy with it. For me Logic Pro 8 is the most easiest way to produce music with. You get a lot of stuff for that money.

Just might pull the trigger on one of these 'Laptots'.
A cheap and easy way to get my 'Glimmer Room' news on the road.

The Acer Aspire One has been getting some good write-ups recently. I'm getting an Elonex One-t for Chrimbo so I can do my web surfing all around the house, rather than being tied to the desktop (coincidentally, an Acer) in the studio.

Another question:
I might get myself a laptop PC for live performance. I am going to run Reason on it and I will just need normal XP performance and a well-sounding audio outout with low latency.

So, what laptop for that?

I will let you know what I end up with and how I get on with it in the new year. At the moment looking like a Dell studio but we will see.
