Your computer has a floppy disk drive, how cool is that! Smile

There are some really awesome covers in your discography, and much better than many of those from your colleagues. Have you ever considered doing album covers for other artists?

VE-RY cool indeed. Well, actually the floppy disk drive is the only reason for me to keep that old Mac (which is not the one I usually use...):
In the early days of virtual synthesizers I once bought Koblo's "Vibra" - a very cool sound tool, I really loved it. Unfortunately, Koblo went bankrupt not long after that, so the software was never updated. And it has a copy protection based on a floppy disk, so I never could use it with on my (slightly newer) Mac G3 (the old Mac is from 1996, the "new" one from 2002...).

Thank You very much. Smile

Well, actually, I have studied design (with an emphasis on book desing and illustration) and earn my humble living as a designer (and printer) - so, hopefully, my covers are on a fairly professional level.

And yes - I have indeed considered to do covers for other musicians (...and I actually did on two or three occasions). On the other hand, with between 10 and 16 hours per day working in the printing business, I'm not so keen on doing more of that kind of work. Maybe if it could be an alternative...

In most cases, my visual creativity is severly restricted in my daily work (by the kind of jobs we get here, customer's wishes etc.). When I do my own covers, it's also a chance for me to try or do things I don't have the chance to otherwise, and usually I enjoy that freedom...

Franco-Cannadian EM reviewer / blogger Sylvain Lupari recently wrote an indeed VERY positive review of my SynGate release.

He announced it with the words:

"Here's a superb a wonderful EM album which inhales the wonderful creative years of the 70's. Michael Brückner's 100 Million Miles Under the Stars is by far my very favorite EM work this year. Hat to you Michael for such a great opus!"

You can read the full review on Sylvain's excellent review page Synths and Sequences:

http://synthsequences.blogspot.de/2012/09/michael-bruckner-100-million-miles.html?spref=fb

On that occasion, let me remind those of You who have not decided to purchase the album yet of the attractive bundle I still offer:

If You purchase both, You'll get the SynGate release (1 CD) for the normal price (12 Euro and some Cents + shipping, I think...) + the "Supplementary Volume" (5 CDs) for a immensly reduced discount price.

Feedback for the "Supplementary Volume" had also been very positive so far, therefore I think it's not promised too much if I say if You like EM, it won't completely dissatisfy You...

Wink

Here's a "product photo" by a fan (...and friend, an co-musician. Hagen von Bergen, actually...):

Image

Oh, and Hagen wrote:

Zum Meisterwerk "100 Million Miles Under The Stars" von Michael Brückner auf www.syngate.net kommt jetzt noch das Monsterwerk dazu....sage und schreibe 5 (fünf/five)!!! CD's mit ausgezeichneter Elektronik vom Workaholic MB. Ein Rundumsorglospaket für die geneigten Lauscher Smile

...the Google translator transforms this, a little clumsily, to this:

The masterpiece "100 Million Miles Under The Stars" by Michael Brückner on www.syngate.net is now the monster to work .... no less than 5 (five / five)! CD's with excellent electronics from workaholic MB. A comprehensive package for the listener inclined Smile

He, he...

Very Happy

Hey Michael, just checking out your album on Syngate there.

Interesting samples indeed. Cool

Whats the story with the "supplementary volume " bundle. You say in your post above if you purchase both ? Do you have to order the supplementary stuff separately or what is the crack ?

Very nice music.

I beg Your pardon if this is a bit confusing - I'll try to explain:

First, the facts:

1.) Yes, You can order "100 Million Miles Under the Stars" (let's call it the "main release") directly from SynGate, and for this, You always have to pay the normal price that the label asks for. It is a regular SynGate release, and they just handle it as any of their other releases.

2.) "The Supplementary Volume" is NOT a SynGate release, You can order it only directly from me (like most of my other albums). And it is me (and NOT SynGate) who is offering it as a "bundle" together with the main release...

The offer is: if You have purchased th main released, You will get a significant discount on "The Supplementary Volume".

If You have NOT purchased the "main release", then I ask my normal price for "The Supplementary Volume".

And it does NOT work the other way round - SynGate will NOT give You any discount on the "main release" if You have bought etc. - because this whole discount thing is only my personal initiative. SynGate will always ask the full price for the normal album.

Now here's (again) why:

To me, both releases belong together, and I want to encourage listeners to purchase both. But I don't want to rob people, therefore the discount.

I also considered at some point to make "The Supplementary Volume" a completely free download, but that wouldn't have been fair towards SynGate, who work hard to promote and distribute my album.
So instead, I took care that the "Supplementary Volume" is, on it's own, a little more expensive than the SynGate album. Actually, there's also a story and some long talks behind all of this, and in the end, this seemed to be the solution that was the best for all sides concerned...

During the recording sessions for "100 Million Miles Under the Stars" I recorded / produced a lot of music, much more than needed for one album. Good music, I think, most of it worthy to be released. I could just have used these tracks for other albums, which I release regularily later on. But I feel it all belongs together as a unity, so I decided to offer it in this maybe slightly confusing way (...of course, it would have been even cooler if SynGate had released the "The Supplementary Volume" as well, but this was no option; however, Kilian was OK with doing it like this...).

Maybe You can look at it like a "release experiment" of sorts - frankly speaking, I won't repeat such an arrangement in the future.

OK - if You have any more questions, please feel free to ask. Smile

Maybe one more info:
Originally I had planned to make "The Supplementary Volume" a download at BandCamp only - but several good old fans did approach me if I couldn't make a hardware version possible. First answer was: OK, I can burn it on CD-R and send it to You, but over time, this develloped further, and by now I have created a very attractive packaging, including even a little booklet and five CD-Rs. However, I produce the sets on demand only, so if You like one of these, You may have to be patient maybe two or three weeks, until Your personal set will be ready for shipping...

Ok Michael, got you now I think Wink

Checked out your bandcamp there also which helped.

Do you want me to order direct from you then, or will I order the main release direct from Syngate then. To be honest would like to support your record label also, but perhaps ordering direct from yourself does that as well ?

Let me know and I will send those Euros off Wink

Well, some of You will already know it - "100 Million Miles Under The Stars" has been nominated for this year's Schallwelle Award (which means: it is among the top fives of the listener's poll) - much to my BIG surprise, I have to say...

Shocked

Of course, I am more than happy to realise that a lot of people like this album and voted for it!

Mr. Green

So I want so say THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all of You who gave me their vote!
Your friendly response is very uplifting and encouraging, and it's great to see that my music is so friendly received.

You make it all worthwhile!!!

Smile Smile Smile

Looks like the Schallwende nomination triggered some more interest in the album - I've just learned the other day that it's title track is featured in the recent issue of

http://www.spacemusic.nl/'s podcast

(together with the new album from fellow SynGate musician TM Solver, and Erren, Fleissig, Schottler and Steffen...).

I'm amused to see that the album title even seems to have inspired the title of the podcast: "Under The Stars"

Even more amusing I find the announcement:

"...Michael has it all under control, his synths, his thoughts, your thoughts, your moods..."

Strange, I never noticed... Wink

So, very nice!

But what surprises me is that I was rather sure to find Spacemusic.nl (or one of it's representatives) here in the forum, but I didn't...

Did I miss something...?
