Excerpt from the Cosmiccagibi newsletter:

Dear Customer,
I hope you previously enjoyed our first dvd production: Frederic Rossif's "Georges Mathieu or the Fury of being".
An effort is underway to possibly release another Rossif/Vangelis collaboration: the Frederic Rossif film "La Fête Sauvage" on Blu-ray and DVD.
We would like to learn if there is enough interest to generate sales.
If you are interrested in buying this title you may now write and pledge your support: it's easy just respond this e-mail with a simple "yes".

The film will be entirely restored, sound and images, from sctrach, using original negatives for best quality. Exclusive bonus content, especially made for this edition, will be also included (such as, interviews with the film crew and some of Rossif's closest collaborators)
Many thanks in advance for your answer.
If you are interrested in, please show your support: send a simple "yes" to the following email adress : thewildfeast@zoroastre.fr

Alternatively, you can respond on

Yves Rescalat / Editions Zoroastre

Yep,
Yves is canvassing support as he did with the Georges Mathieu DVD, I am sure it will happen.

Of course, I support this idea and yet, I am a little disappointed Surprised that Yves Rescalat did not rather choose 'Sauvage Et Beau'. Why ? Because there already is an official Vangelis soundtrack release for 'La Fête Sauvage', whereas the soundtrack of 'Sauvage Et Beau' contains plenty of excellent & unreleased music by Vangelis (and those among us who have it know how dreadful the unofficial sound quality is).

Drop him a line and ask him but I think he does not have access to everything to choose from.

Even better would be for Vangelis to also release the music, Opera Sauvage 22 episodes, L'apocalypse des animaux 6 episodes, I now some music is repetitive but there is a lot more than was released on albums...

Agreed.

And I was surprised how well that main titles theme sounded on Portraits. Much better than I expected just watching the VHS tapes. It looks like Vangelis made a proper stereo version at the time. I wonder if he did that with all the songs.

You should realize that much of the Rossif music was not properly mixed in stereo. La Fete Sauvage for instance was never intended for release on an album. They did, eventually, but you can still tell when listening to the album that the stereo spectrum was not properly used when mixing. At times all you hear stereo wise is the entire mix panning shifting slowly back and forth between the two channels.

For the record, I don't know if this goes for Sauvage et Beau. I'm basically trying to say that because the one track on Portraits sounded so good, it might just mean that the movie was mixed in stereo, which could promise much better quality music if that ever gets properly mastered for dvd, etc....

Thanks, dlodewijks. Interesting information. If a complete Sauvage et Beau oficial soundtrack was released, I would pounce on it. It would be so marvelous to have the complete soundtrack in Portraits quality ! Very Happy
