The Sequel ârevitalizedâ
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
What started in 2011 as plans and ideas for a âsequelâ of the 2010 Joint Efforts release âThe Albumâ lost track in the years that followed. Result so far: no second Joint Efforts CD.
The new initiative by Groove as described in their newsletter last Sunday made me decide to contact Ron for additional information. Yesterday evening we called and discussed further details.
Basically it means that the physical production of the CD can partly be outsourced by using the services of a dutch CD pressing plant that has proven to be a reliable and professional company producing first class CDâs at competitive prices.
After discussing the conditions and questions I have made an agreement to push on and therefore can announce a definite 2019 release of a factory pressed CD which with a bit of luck will be launched between April and July this year.
In order to make a âstate of the artâ CD I have decided to adapt a few things, go through the current material and make an appropriate selection of what will âfit into the pictureâ of the collective (Joint Efforts).
Chosen tracks will be released on a single factory pressed CD (not a double as I had previously in mind) and will be distributed worldwide via a well known dutch specialized record company
If this release works out properly I will start with the third part and might introduce another idea that I have in mind to guarantee a sort of musical continuation.
There is 78 min space available which depending on the length of the individual tracks makes it possible to âhouseâ 12 to 14 tracks (based on an average length of 5 to 6 minutes per track)
Most important now is how we can give the Sequel a 2019 twist/face: start âall over againâ to make it a fresh and modern record or use the âbest of both worldsâ and make it a sort of âmash-upâ by using the old ingredients with a 2019 touch?
Looking forward to hearing from you...

Well that is not that easy to answer.
I guess everybody has lost track by now what was submitted, what was chosen, what was withdrawn and used otherwise and after this renewed selection coming to a temporary list of potential tracks for the new "Joint Efforts".
What would make it fresh and feel like 2019.
Of course some well known artists may very well be included to fill "the Sequel" till 78 min.
But I would wish to be able to listen to new and for some perhaps unknown artists as well!
(but where to find them? I can only point to one big source for lesser known artists; Bandcamp)
I guess that could very well give it the 2019 touch.
Hopefully this helps somewhat to put you in the right track, but I am open for suggestions from fellow 'EM portal' menbers.
Looking forward to the outcome and especially to the ideas about the musical continuation!

That's great news!
Now, given the fact that I withdrew my old submissions a few months ago (since The Sequel didn't appear to happen any time soon) and used them elsewhere, of course I wonder if I should submit something new, or if the album (given the now reduced space of just one CD) is filled alreadyâŚ

Donât worry most of the information is available and what is missing can be âtracked and tracedâ

A mix would be fine but what counts is the music and the way it can be combined instead of a âbest ofâ collection

For this moment everything is âemptyâ but with a bit of luck this is gonna change
and to answer your question: yes please, kindly send me âsomethingâ new
Thanks Michael, I will send you a PM

I'm pleased to see things are moving forward again
I think it would be interesting if the next Joint Efforts could be a continuous mix, as this would actually require people to work together more than everyone just submitting their own track.

That is a very good idea and concept.
Personally would also prefer this to involve folk who actually post on here rather from elsewhere. That is the whole point I would have thought.
Look forward to the project coming to fruition. All the best with that.

Also........any chance the 2010 album could be put onto bandcamp to purchase?
As that was prior to me joining the forum I missed out on that. I would be very interested to hear it.

I agree Jez, it is certainly interesting but given the fact that this might be a time consuming process I prefer to keep the second release as it was planned and keep the âin the mixâ concept for the third one.
