It should be noted that the CD is a needle-drop, and not a very well cleaned-up one either.

In addition to the remaining clicks and NR artifacts, it still has the narrowed stereo image of the original LP.

I ran it through pan expansion of about 150% (which roughly matches the excerpt that was on one of the Sky CD comps) and was amazed at how much wider and trippier it is.

A lot of Sky LPs have a narrowed stereo image, no doubt put in as a mastering compromise. Harald Grosskopf's Synthesist is another one (and another one where half of the CD is a poorly-done needle drop).
