My favorite car is one that starts, runs, gets more than 20 MPG, and isn't so rusty that I'm ashamed to be seen driving it. After that, pfttt, I have stopped caring. It's not that I don't like some cars (I'd kill for the latest Aston Martin seen in Casino Royale), but I have owned so many (over 15 last time I counted) and since I live in a harsh climate (brutal winters and steamy humid summers), all I care is will it get me where I am going without quitting on me and in relative comfort (winter = heat, summer = a/c).

In chronological order, I've owned
1962 Dodge Polara (my first car...cost me $125)
1965 Ford Mustang (before Mustangs were collectable)
1970 Dodge Charger R/T (sweetest ride I've ever owned) Very Happy
1974 Fiat 128 (biggest piece of sh_t I ever owned...went through three transmissions in the first 12 months) Evil or Very Mad
1976 Chevrolet Malibu
1974 Opel Manta (another sweet ride...what is it with German cars???)
1975 Chevrolet Nova
1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass (a real craptacular one, that)
1977 Ford Maverick (another real p.o.s) Mad
1981 Toyota Corolla
1983 Toyota Corolla (switched from an automatic to a stick shift)
1977 Mazda GLC (hahaha...holes in the floor and manual choke but it ran)
1981 Mazda GLC (for a Mazda, it was junk)
1986 Toyota Celica (actually not at all up to their usual standards)
1986 Chevrolet Nova (really just a Corolla under the skin)
1990 Mazda Protege (okay, but still too many repairs)
2002 Mazda Protege (this is Kathryn's current car)
2000 Ford Focus SE *my current ride...so far - 3 weeks - so good)

People ask me what I would buy if I had the money to buy anything. Probably a Lexus sedan. I'm 53 and my days of squatting to get in a sports car (other than the aforementioned Aston Martin) are long gone. Give me comfort, style, and hi tech gadgets and it's all good.

Give me a big engine, preferably a lot of noise to come with it and I would like to sit with my ass as close to the ground as possible Smile

Do not look here.

At least they are decent enough not to list any prices.

Love cars. My Dad used to deal in vintage cars and my brother rebuilds them for a living.
For the minute he has a Lotus X that was ordered by James Dean just before his death.

I had quite a nice childhood car wise! I remember being picked up from school in various cool cars when my dad had a chance. A Ferrari 250 Lusso was one

A Bugatti 37a was another

But alas they all got sold on to pay for other things amongst which is this (my Dad's Pension fund!) A Lotus 49 Formula 1

Also my Father has a Connaught Formula 1 from 1955

Our family car for years was a Jaguar MKII which was fabulous. Hard to fault.
Did many long journeys in that car. Would love one of them, but my money has disappeared into synthesizers and children Rolling Eyes

I had a SAAB 900 for ages. Wonderful cars. Hate the new ones though. Rebadged Opel.
I drive a cool little Subaru Impreza now and am happy. Great cars Subaru. Reliable, go well, handle superbly and do what a car should do basically.

Have ran in the past:

Wolseley 1100 (cute little grown-up mini-type thing w/trad wood & leather interior)

Ford Fiesta (boring but v v economical)

SAAB 900S twin cam (V V fast)

SAAB 900I single cam (not fast, dissapointing after the 900S)

Transit van

Currently running a SAAB 9-5 diesel estate car. Nice & smooth, economical (meter is currently reading 43mpg), loads of looad space.

Dream cars would be:

Studebaker Avanti:

Totally awesome, man.

Also:
late-model Chevrolet Corvair Monza Turbo
Tatra Model T87:

Daimler Majestic Major (staid-looking '60's brit limo w/4.5L V8 engine & 4-wheel disc brakes. VERY fast)
Bristol 405, 409, 410.

I was a buyer and collector of 60's muscle cars, haven't had the time or expense lately but here are some of the rides I've had

1969 Plymouth Road Runner 440-six barrel, all original with the bench seat and column shift
