@BruecknerAmbient
Thanks for pointing that out. But comparing "Die Unendlichkeit..." to absolute masterpieces like Oxygene, Spiral, and the TD albums is a bit too much honor for Rudolf Heimann.
Besides, the albums you mentioned simply stop after their playing time. This one continues with this quasi artsy gimmick. Which goes on and on and on and... (at least Sala called it a day after 12 minutes Wink).

His fans might argue about that. I won't… Wink

Ah, OK - guess I made myself unpopular enough for today… Wink

So, apparently running times of around 40 minutes or less are no obstacle for some listeners to find albums rewarding.

Just saying...

I am afraid it's a bit beyond me why you are referring to playing times.

It's not the playing time that makes an album rewarding but what is happening during that playing time.

Then again, Heimann's music has never been my cup of tea anyway so what do I know?

I did so because our good friend VCO 1 actually referred to the playing time of the album himself in his initial post on this topic (I also had quoted that passage again in the hope to point this out...).

VCO 1 said that he in fact enjoyed the first six tracks of the album, and his main complaint was that the album was a "huge disappointment" NOT because all music was bad, but because the second half of the possible playing time of the CD was "wasted" by a long track he disliked.

So, I wondered if the fact of "only" 36 minutes of good music per se necessarily has to lead to the conclusion that an album is disappointing…

Exactly my point - I just looked upon it from the other end, and taking for serious that VCO1 didn't complain at all about the other six tracks.

In this case one could expect that You perhaps find it more interesting that he tried to do something different on this album… Wink

At least, in VCOs case it apparently was just the other way round:
He liked what Rudolph had done before…

Well, it's early for a Saturday morning, let's see what might be a nice wake up listen... Oh, Yes:

Jon Anderson, Olias of Sunhillow

Thanks, but I think I am not interested -- Heimann's work always sounded to me as if it was made to please as many people as possible.

You never get a chance to leave a first impression twice.

He definitely broke with that tradition with this album. Wink
