Software/ Mergener and Weisser are now on Bandcamp, all their releases are now available as downloads and some on vinyl.
Good to see these available again as a lot of their CD releases are very hard to find, or are priced at at silly figures at Discogs.

I'd be curious to know who benefits from all the sales. Will it be Peter Mergener only, Michael Weisser only, or will the proceeds be shared equally among them?

The Software enterprise didn't end all too favourably for Peter, that's why I'm wondering.

Interesting, thanks for the hint! Now I can finally check out all those albums that I've missed so far... Cool

(...I realised a while ago that I actually enjoy Heaven-To-Hell quite a lot, their only album I own and that I had not listened to for many years - I was rather surprised when I finally did so again).

Cool

.

I wonder if he (Peter) will benefit much from these reissues...

[From Bandcamp Daily]
Clanton wants 100% Electronica’s reissue campaign to make Weisser happy, although the artist himself has his own hopes for what might happen once Software’s music is available to a larger audience. “It is not really the success of selling that is important,” Weisser says. “The real value is scoring new contacts to creative people for creating new ventures.”

The question is if it's worth much more than 30 dollar. I own four of their cd's (and once had Chip Meditation part 1 on lp) but it never did much to me. Quite uninspired, cold music. What they(?) did later in their career was even less interesting, imho.

I've heard of the name, but I'm totally unfamiliar with the music....

Might check them out on Bandcamp.

I had everything up to and including Syn-Code, Things went downhill after those albums IMHO, when I got Digital Dance I felt very disappointed with it. My personal favourites are Beam-Scape and Night-Light.

I would hope they are both getting equal benefits, I always felt Peter was more of the driving force, especially composition wise, although I could be wrong.

Of course he was. Weisser never really contributed anything musical to the band other than the occasional blah-blah and the fancy, um... sleeve design. And the concept -- whatever that may imply.

I remember attending a Software concert in Bremen in 1989 which turned out to be a playback show, with no band on the stage, and no Peter Mergener in sight anywhere. I approached Michael Weisser and asked him whether the track "Energy as Matter" (forgot the fancy hyphens in between, sorry for that) would be played, and his response was "What track?".

The only one I have is Modesty Blaze from 1991. Quite good, I still play the CD from time to time.

Beam Scape, Night Light and Syn Code, the beauty about being on Bandcamp is you can listen first before you buy.

Thought so, bet the hyphens were Michaels-idea Laughing
