What an amazing set, i had the cassette way back when, but im going to order the cd asap. Its been on my mind, well made, electronic enough, nice melodies and David Bowie singing on one piece is nice.

Hm, I always liked the Oberheim Four Voice bit on "As falls Wichita, so falls Wichita Falls"... "38... 42... 55... 3". Lovely.

No, it was on the album of the same title, dating back to - I think -- 1980 or 1981. That

Correct me if I'm wrong but Pat Metheny was the one of the first to widly use guitar synths. Years ago I though jeez this guys a guitarist but I can't hear any guitars. Later I realized that the lead instrument was a guitar. He is one of my fave artist of all time with a very varied and interesting catalogue. Travels is my fave album and was also the first I heard.

Travels is one of the best live albums ever recorded.

The live version of Are You Ging With Me is unsurpassed. I can't help but cranking up the stereo to neighbour-annoying loudness every time I play it.

Well, back on topic - The Falcon And The Snowman is a boring film IMO, but I have the LP and there are some very good tracks like "Daulton Lee" for instance. Some of the tracks are more difficult on the ear, unmelodic stuff featuring the National Symphony Orchestra.

Of other Metheny stuff, I like Still Life (Talking), Letter From Home, Secret Story, We Live Here, Imaginary Day, and parts of the Passagio Per Il Paradiso soundtrack from 1996. I haven't really followed his career much since about 2000, but maybe I should. The soundtrack album A Map Of The World was rather boring. Haven't heard much of his pre-1985 stuff either.

But remember, it's mostly Lyle Mays who is responsible for the synth-stuff on the Metheny Group albums.

Yes, fabulous piece of music. It takes up all of side one, but I know exactly the bit you're talking about (I've listened to this track many, many times Smile ).

BTW, did you get my phone message while I was in Belgium?

Metheny was the artist that really made me broaden my outlook on music...I love almost all his albums and also own most. He was an early pioneer of the guitar synth and has made some of the most magical music on his various projects.
