Tue Jun 26, 2012 10:43 pm Schickert and Schnitzler reissues from Bureau B! |
  |
This news had to be shared.
Copying email I just got from excellent label Bureau B which has been reissuing great albums by Roedelius, Cluster etc.
Now they're reissuing three legendary albums!
"Überfällig" by Günter Schickert
A great trip! Out now!
"Taking drugs to make music to take drugs to". This motto by the legendary british space rockers Spacemen 3 could also have been the motto of Günter Schickert. As Klaus Schulze's roadie and assistant, Schickert came into early contact with electronic music. He released two albums on Brain and Sky in the 1970s. "Überfällig" features psychedelia with a "kosmische" touch, influenced by Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream etc. Lengthy pieces with complex layers of rhythmic-harmonic sequences, expansive echoes and reverberation, extrapolated improvisations. A great trip! Out now!

Avantgarde music from 1973/74
Two Conrad Schnitzler reissues
Conrad Schnitzler (1937–2011), composer and concept artist, is one of the most important representatives of Germany's electronic music avant-garde. A student of Beuys, he founded Berlin's legendary Zodiak Free Arts Lab, a subculture club, in 1967/68, was a member of Tangerine Dream (together with Klaus Schulze and Edgar Froese) and Kluster (with Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius) and also released countless solo albums. The red ("Rot") and the blue ("Blau") album from 1973 and 1974 were Schnitzler's second and third solo LPs. Our reissue feature up to six bonus tracks. Out now!

Yesterday I found Rot and Blau in a second hand store in Notting Hill. I am surprised to find out they are so recent.

Way cool, Gustavo - thank You for sharing!
I'm especially pleased to learn about the Schickert re-release, as I always felt this man deserves much more recognition than he received. I think I'll have to buy that one...
And as for Conrad Schnitzler, his music of course is always fascinating as well.

... but same bonuses as on the Captain Trip Edition (but - they are out of print for a long time).

Oh yes - The wonderfully released 10 KW (excellent Schnitzler / "Sequenca" works from the beginning of the 70´s) - I am the happy owner of one of those 150 copies

Me too
BTW, Rot was Con's first solo album, not his second as the blurb above states.

Does anybody know whether Bureau B used the original master tapes or a vinyl copy for these reissues? I seem to remember that the "Wunderbar" album by Wolfgang Riechmann was based on a (crackly) vinyl album, hence I opted for the original Sky CD from 1990 (I think). Same thing with the "Synthesist" album by Harald Grosskopf, as a friend told me.

Usually Schwarz (Eruption) is counted as his first album - which is obviously NOT a solo Schnitzler.
