It's surprising no one has mentioned this one before (at least not here... I got the tip from the Beyond-EM mailing list):

Nothing but Noise - Not Bleeding Red

Image

Nothing but Noise is a project of Front 242 founder Daniel B. Fat, vintage synth sounds (fully analog!) with clear Berlin influences. Not quite as dark as Node, but it's definitely in the same vein. This double cd is highly recommended!

I can't understand how much excellent music Roine Stolt can compose. Seemes like a well, never running dry.

Stef,
thanks for pointing this out, I had no idea this existed and based on the short amazon samples I ordered the 2CD version.
Cheers

You're welcome. It's pretty hard to find decent online samples, or even a full download (for evaluation purposes only, obviously) for this release. So I decided to take the plunge and just ordered it. I've listened to it only once so far, and think it's very nice. In my previous post I mentioned Node. But perhaps Parsick/['ramp]'s more recent work would be a better comparison.

Very Happy

I have played this EP over and over again. I never tire of it. But on the other hand I love progressive, instrumental metal. He's in the same league as Marty Friedman or John Petrucci on this EP/Demo. I knew he had the talent to pull this off, but I never expected such a release would happen. Just wonderful. Give it a try.
