Hi All.

We have some exciting news, part of the new web ideas are finalized,
as from today the starting page of Groove is changed.
When you now land on the www.groove.nl page you get an instant view
of new added releases, if you click on the picture or title you will
be directed to the order page of the old catalog.

Same goes for the CDSHOP button, that will bring you right in the middle
of the Groove catalog with all the Alphabet in front of you.
Not all of the buttons work on this new page but many already do.
So check them out, and if you have idea's let me know.
Best thing for you is that now I can also offer you some nice discount
CD's on this page. The discount will be done with the order.
So on the product place you see the price and on that you get the %
of discount given in the main page. Hope it all makes sense!!
We will have new discounts for you each new week!!
I hope this is the first step to a new way of bringing music to all of you.

On the What's New page on the Catalog side of the Groove page you
can still find new information about price drops and reviews etc, so
if you want to keep up to date at all time also check that page regularly!!

Only a few new releases this week but they are great.
New announced are 2 albums by Tangerine Dream - Finnegans Wake - James
Joyce (cd) and Tangerine Dream - Knights of Asheville (2-cd).
A new Studio and live album. Both are going to be released on December 6th.
Not in time for the Dutch version of Santa Claus (Sinterklaas) but they
should make a great X-Mas present!!

What you could find in you Sinterklaas Schoen (yep again the Dutch Santa)
is a great release by Max Schiefele (Maxxess), Erik Seifert, Josef
Steinbuechel, together they are Tripple S and made a stunning album called "Poles".
I have a track in Dreamscape Radio so check that show, but I promise you
a great journey into sound. These guys now what sound design and ambient is!!
I love this CD and can only warmly advise you to check it out.

Also new is Geigertek's - Soundtrack for City Living. Looking forward in
getting that in. We have received the following releases in stock this week.
Justin Vandenberg - Synthetic Memories, O'Callaghan - Quiet Poet,
David Wright - The Spirit of Light, especially this last album is great!!
It has the subtitle Best of Volume 2 but there is so much unique material on it
that this could easily be a complete new release!!

I am also very glad to announce that we can now deliver also all music from
AmbientLive label. We have started to ad the first titles more will be
added this week. There is some great music on that label and it fills a
great gap in our catalog Smile

Last week we announced a special New Years Concert on the 8th
of January 2012. Well it is on and it will have some very special
music that evening.
A lot of guest will be on stage and it will be a unique concert!!
It will be a mix of Boots, Morpheus, Van Der Heijden etc etc.

Fantasie keine Grenzen gesetzt.

CD, Groove Unlimited, 2011

As some may know, Dutch musician Ron Boots has a great passion for
history next to composing electronic music. It’s something he
previously adressed on “Acoustic Shadows”, that dealt with (the hell
of) human warfare.

“La Caída de Hormigón” (The fall of concrete) is a concept album that
forcusses on the tales and memories secluded in the architectural
space of ruins (aptly described as “Windows into histories”) and the
lessons that can be learned from it. Entering the musics framework is
like stepping in a kind of time capsule, shifting barriers in time and
space during the almost continuous 60-minute ride. Sonically, the
three long tracks feature an attractive but complex blend of vintage
music and contemporary electronics, each evolving and unfolding in
their own pace. Here, Ron’s recognizable sound design ranges from
detailed and intimate to big and massive. Its vibrant, rhythmic and
well-tempered sequenced passages merge with beautifully rendered
atmospheric textures and vintage choirs, making up imaginary journeys
into worlds beyond. On top of that, Ron plays some perfectly placed
solo voices, which really lift the listener up with their enduring,
soaring sounds. On the second track, one can clearly hear the
influence from his release “Detachment of Worldly Affairs”, but for
the most part the spatial music pushes the boundaries over and over
again. Harold van der Heijden joins Ron with some lively drums on the
third track, adding the right kick to the already great drive embedded
in the music. Overall, “La Caída de Hormigón” airs the typical “Ron
Boots sound”. At the same time, its vibe is positive and quite
hypnotizing, opening up a fictional window to the future of mankind
without neglecting nor forgetting. As always, production and mastering
are top-notch.
Most certainly highly recommended.

Glenn - Electronic secret (38716)
A superb album as are Glenns other recordings. Saw him live at
Awakenings in the UK October 2011. Very upbeat and melodic and a joy
to listen to. Buy any of his albums you won't be disappointed.

Wellenfeld - Big Bang (75635)
Muffled pulsation introduces the symphonic intro of "No Way". It
pulses beneath an undulating synth wave and choruses of a youthful
appearance. Fine piano notes emerge. They accompany the military march
of drums which are wrapped by the thick strata of a synth to
philharmonic breaths. And then, "No Way" takes off with deep drum
rolls, nervous and hatched sequences and these youthful choirs which
are drown in solid hypnotic percussions / pulsations, while synth keys
circulate and flutter around a huge pulsatory beat filled by a cosmic
mist. With this melodious approach tied to a heavy hypnotic tempo, "No
Way" launches The Big Bang in the same way as Phase V unwound its 11
musical paintings. Heavy and pulsating rhythms, sequences which hiccup
and skip into nice spasmodic crossings and good arrangements, as
cosmic as orchestral, adorn 10 electronico-cosmic melodies which
revolve around this 6th opus of Wellenfeld.

The title track follows on the ashes of "No Way". Honeyed, the intro
floats in a cosmic sphere before embracing a more nervous tangent with
a jerky rhythm which releases a soft spiralled melody. A melody which
spins in loops on a rhythm became more frenzied with chipped chords
which stumble in a cosmic atmosphere à la Jarre. "Dark Matter" is the
first personal favourite of The Big Bang. It's a superb title which
starts in the uncertainty before adopting a fine pulsatory movement.
It's a soft movement of dance floor with sequences which lurch with
melancholy among melodious pads which multiply and overlap on a suave
hypnotic tempo. A beautiful sequential movement escapes to form a wide
spiral loop which crosses among ornamental musical elements such as
felted percussions and cosmic sound effects before taking up with its
structure of origin. It's a great track which doesn't stop seducing.
And there are many others The Big Bang. "Dance with Sequence" follows
with a stroboscopic sequential line where chords and percussions
collide on a cadence with slightly jerky oscillations. The movement is
fluid with a good sequential flow from which chords shell such as a
dislocated movement while a melodious Kraftwerk style approach hidden
in violin strata, worthy of spasmodic dance- floors. It's a heavy and
lively, coated by a good melodious approach quite as on "New Time" and
"Sonnenwind", 2 tracks which oscillate between the universes of
Moonbooter and Element 4.
"Slow Fall (Album Mix)", quite as "Meteora", is a ballad where muffled
hammerings structure a lascivious tempo adorned with a nice melody and
layered by good morphic strata which waltz in cosmos. "In Control"
pursues this exploration of evolutionary rhythms. If a heavy pounding
launches its rhythmic structure, the rhythm goes quietly astray
towards a more melodious approach where the sequential movement runs
free and takes an ascending tangent to embrace a stormier passage with
crystal clear sequences which flutter on a structure became more
nervous. "Digital Spirit" is the most beautiful track of The Big Bang.
Some hesitating piano notes face a sequence of which sparkling chords
skip in iridescent mists with dramatic outlines. The tempo takes
shape. It's slow and suave, as a cosmic down tempo, and becomes fast
encircled by a spheroidal sequential movement. A movement where
crystal clear and jerky chords swirl and derive on an evolutionary
structure. The melody is catchy, as much for the soul as the hearing,
with this fusion of piano and keyboard which conceives melodious
chords on a slow enchanting movement. A nice structure which
parsimoniously modifies its degree of intensity but which maintains
this harmonious and dramatic musical pattern.

It is wonderful, very good and catchy! Three words which return
constantly in the universe of Wellenfeld.

Time Being - A dimension reflected (16021)
Time Being is a co-work project of US based Phillip Wilkerson, who is
known for his extended discography, mostly featuring download only
releases on various netlabels, and his country-mate Jourdan Laik, who
has released few albums as Paradisaic and Daevine (this one as
collaborative project with Michael Allison of Darshan Ambient). I
think Jourdan is rather known for his work as a crafted photographer
and graphic designer, but now it's time to change this.

Time Being, centered around tranquil and peaceful ambient voyages,
begins with "Everending", a nicely floating piece that sets the
atmosphere for the whole album. Desert ambience at its best!!! Immense
and dreamy "Dust Of Sorts" is another pure beauty! Deeper and darker
droning parts on "Future Forming" are here and there smoothly balanced
with some lighter sounds, definitely one of my fave pieces on this
album! "In The Care Of Knowing" is just the opposite with its lively
texture, enriched by location recordings (cicadas for example), warm
and relaxing. Follows "Present Bending" with few dramatic elements and
slowly circulating tension. The next one, "Static Flow", exactly
corresponds with its title, deeply evocative and immersive, later
colored with bells, noises an. A very relaxing listening that overlaps
also into the closing title composition, "Time Being", this is a
stunning celestial journey! "A Dimension Reflected" is a very
potential and promising collaboration between experienced sculptor and
young talent.

Keep on going, Phillip and Jourdan!!! I can't recommend enough this CD
to all those who are devoted to heavenly ambient realms!!!

Richard Gürtler / Bratislava, Slovakia
