Fantasie keine Grenzen gesetzt.

Hi Everyone,

I just uploaded a new video. This video was initially made for a
lecture at school of my youngest daughter about the Killer Whale
(Orcinus Orca).
On my OceanoGraphy album I also did a track about this magnificent
animal called 'Orcinus'. I put that track under this video. I decided
to put this video online to promote my OceanoGraphy album that was
released in 2009 by Groove Unlimited.
Last summer we visited Sea World in Florida USA with the whole family.
I wanted to show these magnificent animals to my kids, of course I'd
rather have shown them in thw wild, but that is almost impossible.
I shot all the video with a little mobile camera from the audience. I
made the animations in Cinema 4D.
You can find it here:
I hope you enjoy it!

Hi Everyone,

Last weekend Bruce Gall did a 2 hour Synth.nl special on his radio show
'Sunday Synth' where he played all 12 tracks from my Apollo album. The
show was broadcasted on AR FM in the UK on Sunday with a repeat on
Monday. During this special we also did an extensive interview.
I put a copy of the show online for you to enjoy, where I cut out most
of the music and commercials.
You can find it on http://www.synth.nl/interviews

Dear all,

This is a message in German against child prostitution that we fully support!!
For all non Germans it may be a bit hard to follow but just check out
the video, it says it all!!

BvB gegen Schalke vorgestellt.
an roterkeil.net.

Gert Emmens & Ruud Heij - The Sculpture Garden

Fellow Dutchmen Gert Emmens and Ruud Heij are two electronic music
experts. Both are specialists in their own field: Gert is great in
creating fine melodies and is a very good soloist and Ruud (also known
as a member of Free System Projekt) is a genius of the sequencer. Not
surprisingly, he is sometimes called “The Dutch Chris Franke”.
Combined their two styles result in albums that easily can be called
highlights in the retro/Berlin School style of electronic music. “The
Sculpture Garden”, their fifth album as a duo, is yet another highlight.

Being a small country, The Netherlands may not have too much extended
nature but it does have a wonderful national park, called “National
Park Hoge Veluwe”. In the middle of the park, the beautiful “Kröller
Möller Museum” is situated. Somewhat hidden in the forests is a large
sculpture garden. When Gert and Ruud visited the museum in 2008, they
were so impressed by the different sculptures and other artforms they
saw there that they decided to make an album inspired by the garden.
Often, music and other ways of art go together very good. Also, on
“The Sculpture Garden” this is the case.

In “Rocky Lumps”, the album opens with stunning sequences by Heij and
Vangelis-like solos by Emmens, accompanied by one of Gert’s antique
drumboxes. “Needle Tower” is a quite relaxing piece of music with
traces of the music that Patrick O’Hearn makes, being the master of
atmospheres. Sequences again have a central place on this album, for
example in the thrusting tracks “Pallisade” and “Jardin d’email” (nice
title!). In the last piece Gert hs soloing very well again with his
fat solosounds. Perhaps the best composition on the album is “Concetto
Spaziale Natura” . It is full of melancholic atmosphere and packed
with excellent Mellotronchoirs. In “Phyllotaxis” the sequences have
references of the ones Chris Franke created for the legendary
Tangerine Dream in the second half of the seventies.

Gert and Ruud have the opinion that “The Sculpture Garden” is their
best album to date. And they have so much music to share with the
listeners that there is (much) more to come. Listening to the quality
of “The Sculpture Garden” we can only hope that it will come quick.

Ron Boots - La Caída De Harmigón (the falling of Concrete)

Ron Boots is the most well known, the most successful and the best
(serious) electronic musician coming from The Netherlands. Next to
being very interested in electronic music and other sorts of music,
"Big Ron" is also well at home in many kinds of artforms. And, besides
this, he is a person that has read extremely much about history. You
could call him a historian. His wonderful cd from 2006, "Acoustic
Shadows" already showed his historic knowledge in an album about wars.
"La Caída De Harmigón" draws upon inspiration Ron got from Ruins,
which he calls "windows into histories". It is a pure soloalbum by
Ron. Only Harold van der Heijden gave him "drum support".

Ron musically expresses the "windows into histories" in three long
epic pieces. The album opens with the titletrack, which, in English,
means "The Fall Of Concrete". From the first moments, we hear music
that is so typically for Boots: effective and great sequences that get
richer and richer, fantastic atmospheric sounds and cleverly played
solos. As we are accustomed from Ron, there is a certain line in his
compositions: it is built up beautiful. Drums come and go and
Mellotronchoirs fall in. A masterpiece. "A Través De Las Ruinas Vista
A Pasado" (A View Through The Ruins Of The Past) has one of the best
sequencerpatterns Ron has ever created. Towards the end, a soft but
very strong solo is used. And then there were three. The third track
"Cielo Abierto A Través De Los Pilares De La Fe" (Open Skies Across
the Pillars Of Faith) starts relaxing and gets fuller and fuller as it
progresses, together with some very fine drumming. This must clearly
be on of the highlights in the (long and ever growing) career of Ron.

With "La Caída De Harmigón" Ron shows the listener a wonderful insight
into ruins and it's meaning. The Netherlands are quite famous for
their popular "electronic musicians" like DJ's Tiësto, Armin van
Buuren and Afrojac. Now it is time that serious electronic musicians
also start to receive more interest. They deserve it. "La Caída De
Harmigón" may just be the album that will give Dutch EM a big boost. A
big boost from "Big Ron".

Synth.nl - Apollo

Dutchman Michel van Osenbruggen is a big fan of Jean Michel Jarre
which he calls his all-time hero. The influences of the French
grandmaster can be heard well in Michel's (what's in a name…) music.
For his conceptual ideas, Michel draws upon many items. For "Apollo"
he was inspired by the Apollo Moon missions, undertaken by NASA during
the 60's and 70's of the previous century. Since Michel was born in
1969, the same year that Neil Amstrong set foot on the Moon, he had
always felt a very strong connection to this event. Listening to this
album will take you on a voyage from the Earth to the Moon and back
again. Many of the astronauts that actually took this journey have
stated that they went up there to discover the Moon, yet really
discovered Earth. Before Apollo, no one had ever traveled far enough
away to actually see the whole planet in one view. Pictures of that
beautiful blue marble floating in space have become famous the world
over and have made mankind feel more interconnected than ever before.
In Michel's opinion, the Moon landings represent human's greatest
technological achievement up to date. On his website www.synth.nl a
film, made by Michel himself, can be seen about the project.

The music from Michel is very imaging, like telling a story in music
but without using words. On "Apollo" he tells the amazing journeys of
the Apollo missions. The albums "launches" with "Launchpad" in which
we hear historical spoken words. A great analog (sounding) solo is
played here. Michel cleverly mixes the music of his great hero Jarre
with that of other electronic musicians. In "Staging" can be heard
that he works together with his fellow-Dutchman Ron Boots and in
"Orbit" and "Earthrise" the grandeur of Vangelis is very present. But
Jarre comes by every now and then, for instance in "Apollo 9" (just
listen to some of the rhythms that a reminiscent of the ones in
"Oxygene"). The big rhythms from Michel earlier albums are used in
"Apollo 11" as well as "Reentry". It all comes to an impressive
epilogue in "Splashdown".

What Michel does on his albums is a great thing, mixing wonderful and
rather easy accessible electronic music with intriguing concepts. This
is the perfect combination.

Eric van der Heijden - Dal Segno

Where a lot of electronic musicians draw their inspiration from the
retro/Berlin School, the melodically sounds of Jean Michell Jarre
and/or the rhythms of Kraftwerk as well as all of their musical
offspring, Dutchman Eric van der Heijden goes further. His music is
romantic, symphonic and reflective and describes feelings. "Maybe we
should use a Universal Language-and FEEL", is said is the booklet of
the album. The text is also spoken in the openingtrack "Signature Of
Signs", by Caren Weisleder.

"Dal Segno", is a music notation, used as a navigation marker. From
Italian for "from the sign". In this, the album is also a nice
follow-up for Eric's album "Da Capo" from 1998. Da Capo is also a
musical term in Italian.
The grandeur of a composer like Vangelis sometimes comes to mind while
listening to the music of Eric. The romantic flavour of the music is
expressed very well in some great pieces played on (electric) piano.
"The Inner Self" could have come from the Greek grandmaster himself.
After an experiment with the sounds of a big bowl in "Feel" (which
Eric also played live on "E-Live", the electronic music festival in
The Netherlands in October 2011). The link to Vangelis grows stronger
in this piece. Soft rhythms are used in "Sign Of Life" and Eric plays
a quiet solo. In "Joy Of Being" the sequences have references of the
eighties Tangerine Dream, where further comparisons can be ruled out.
"Beyond The Dream Lies Universal Love" goes a bit back in time.
Literally, because here the music has traces of Eric's first solo-cd
"Universal Time Zone" from 1991. After the titletrack, that almost
sounds like filmmusic, the big finale of the cd is "The Journey". Here
Eric works together with his fellow musicians Frank Dorittke (also
known as FD Project) on electric guitar and Harold van der Heijden on
drums in a composition that builts up gradually to a wonderful closing.

Eric doesn't make a lot of cd's, "Dal Segno" is only his fourth
soloalbum in twenty years. But, the ones he releases are wonderful and
have meaning. Meaning in the world of electronic music but also
meaning in that Eric says with his music. And with "Dal Segno" this is
an expression of feeling. A great feeling. Hopefully, we can expect
Eric's next album soon.
