My first Garrison album was The Rhythm of Life. I liked it but considered it an average electronic album. Years later I got Eclipse and An Earth-Star Trilogy and I was inmediately captivated. I finally bought the rest of his albums.
Great music and great musician.

Michael started running out of steam after Point Of Impact, and Images only sounded like a half-hearted attempt at fulfilling the contract he had with Ariola.
Relying on D50 factory patches almost exclusively after finishing his last all-analogue album Aurora Dawn did not exactly help much either.
The Roland D50, one of my favourite all-time enemies.

Today, it would have been Mike's 63rd birthday.

During the past three years, I restored Mike's original stereo and multi-track tapes (mainly Ampex 456 with massive sticky-shed syndrome), transferred them to ProTools, and converted them into digital files, remastering them and brushing them up only slightly.
The mastering particularly of In The Regions Of Sunreturn was and still is absolutley cracking.
Sadly, Mike must have been a bit neglecting about his work as the masters for Eclipse are no longer complete, and Point Of Impact is lost entirely (even though there was a tape reel left with Daydreams written on it). The Prisms LP (at least the European pressings) was pressed at the wrong speed, and some of the original tracks were not included but replaced with new recordings. Apparently, the record company had a word to say in this case.
Maybe we will see re-issues of his catalogue eventually.

Absolutely!
Count me in if those remasterings are going to be released.

Thank you for that effort, Stephen! I think about Mike G quite often, as he was the first musician whose music i bought that I had personal contact with. I've got most of his music on CD, would FLAC/WAV uploads of those help with any of those missing titles?

Thanks Craig.
The missing bits from the CD releases are all more or less incomplete, and the versions on tape were often suffering from heavy compression and even heavier doses of DBX. I managed to re-create what was missing from some unplayed vinyl copies (which is far from being the ideal solution but it is a lot better than having nothing at all). In theory, I might even be able to create remixes based on the original multi-track recordings.
I even bought an unplayed test pressing of Point Of Impact which I am restoring -- the original CD release from 1993 sounds terrible which always bothered me. Same thing here as with Prisms, the album was pressed at the wrong speed.

Today, it would have been Mike's 68th birthday.
Raise a glass to him and play your favourite Garrison album to honour him.

That can really only be In the Regions of Sunreturn. His first and by far his best.
