Any experienced synth user who can recommend a nice and user friendly synth for a beginner? For ambient/space/tribal experimentation.
Budget up to about €1000.

Analogue or digital?
Monophonic or polyphonic?
Built-in sequencer or not?
Workstation with sampling function or not?
Keyboard, 19" rackmount or desktop?
Having a plethora of possible choices around doesn't necessarily make life easier.

An iPad with Cubasis, several soft synths and a decent midi keyboard.

I suppose he was asking for a physical instrument, not a video game.
