I was listening to side one of MO's live album 'Exposed' today. I still ove this album. His best is IMO..'Incantations. His most complex up until then and all 4 sides are great. I used to rate Tubular Bells but nowadays it is although of it's time a very flawed album IMO.

Nice video. By the way, what does Ommadawn mean?

Nothing...it's a nonsense word just made up by MO or someone else.

Thanks for that link!!
Ommadawn is probably my fav Oldfield. Great to see how they manage to do it with such a minimal setting. Classic keyboards too.
But hey! Is that Schulze on the keys? Wink

Incantations is a very special LP. Don't know why though! A bit long and sometimes not entirely my thing, but it has a very special atmosphere..
I'd still put it just after Ommadawn.
TB is flawed, but to come up with it at his age and to perform most of it PLUS it was the catalyst for so much music afterwards I have to rate it highly.

Can't stand his pop stuff though..

From an interview in Mojo, Dec 98:

"I asked the singer, Clodagh Simmonds, to stick some Celtic lyrics on the african rhythms and she made up something stupid in Gaelic, meaning 'Daddy's in the bed, the cat's drinking milk, I'm an idiot and I'm laughing.' 'Ommadawn' means idiot in Gaelic, it's an insult of course."

I have the Tubular Bells II & III Live DVD. Pretty good, especially Part III from London 1998.

Opinions?

I love those two. The live DVD is top notch. It's a pity it poured with rain all through the TB III performance.

Yes, although it fit the "Man In The Rain" song rather well... Very Happy

Can't watch the DVD.

Reminds me how I nearly caught pneumonia watching it for real. Wink
