Lila - Amethyst

I find it hard to pinpoint exactly why I liked this album so much from the first time I listened to it. It may be the clear structures of the tracks. Or the pleasant sounds (the female touch?). Mixed with a bit of naivety. Music from a time when life was simpler but releasing an album wasn’t. Wink In certain aspects it’s comparable to Suzanne Ciani’s Seven Waves. Not just because of the 808 b.t.w. Anyway, still enjoying this one since I first got it on vinyl (the year it was released). And now listening to the “cd-r version” (again). A classic.

Metoo. I was just about to post it. One of my favorite CDs.

It's a wonderful album! I also love - as always, actually - Wolfgang Tiepold's contributions on cello on it!

I had the good fortune to purchase a copy of the original LP pressing directly from Robert via FB a few years ago - back then (I think it was in 2013, but then again I'm not quite sure) he said he still had rather a lot copies at home - maybe that's still the case…?

Recent listening:

Klaus Schulze, La Vie Electronique 8, CD 2

Robert Rich, Drones

Steve Roach, Immersion 1

King Crimson, Red

King Crimson, Epitaph (live in 1969)

King Crimson, B'Boom: Live in Argentina (live in 1994)

Saw KC live just yesterday evening at the Jahrhunderthalle, Frankfurt (first time ever in my life! Shocked )
It was in every way the perfect concert that I had hoped for (with just one complaint: like Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings", it was too short Wink )

Rainbow Rising

Just tracked down a mint vinyl copy of this utterly superb album.

See that keyboard intro from Tony Carey on track 1, Tarot Woman. Pure class. Think this was maybe the first time Id really noticed keyboard/synths as a young rock lad. Led me to check out the mighty Tangs.

What a track with Dio that is. Whole album is a masterpiece in my view.

Definitely one of my all time favorite albums as well! Cool

Alas, though - just watched some video clips of Rainbow performing in 2019, and finally old age seems to have gotten the better of Richie's fingers! Crying or Very sad

Even last year (when already a lot of people said that) some of his solos were still wonderful - maybe not as flashy as in the past, but he made up for that with more feeling and melodic structure. But what I saw today and a few days ago really didn't sound good. I really don't mind aged musicians going on to play live, but maybe there's a point when you should stop.

Robert Fripp, in contrast, who I just saw last Thursday with KC, is still in top form (he's one year younger, though Razz Laughing )

Current listen:

Tangerine Dream, The Official Bootleg Series Volume Three

Rainbow. I saw them live at Spain yesterday at Rock The Coast festival. An impressive amount of energy on stage, Ritchie Blackmore is the f*cking master.

NP: Rudy Adrian - Concerts in New Zealand

After two days of heavy metal concerts (Scorpions, Europe, Magnum, UFO, Rainbow and many more) I have to let my ears to recover Smile

Shocked Oh! Good to hear that, Alvaro - after all, it seems he returned to form again at least a bit, then.
