(...I beg Your pardon if announcements by me are coming in a bit densely at the moment - this one actually was in the shelves sooner than anticipated.)

Shocked

I’m happy to announce the release of my new solo album Trees of Olivandá on Syngate Records - a sonic fantasy journey through a weird and wonderful world full of mysteries and adventures, enhanced by the marvellous cover art of Andreas Schwietzke!

Listen to the trailer to join the trip! Very Happy

Side note: this particular album started as a birthday present for my good friend Olaf Lux (to whom it is dedicated!) - it grew quite naturally from there in a very orgarnic and spontaneous way until I realised that a complete album had emerged that would fit well into the classic EM pattern Syngate is known for.

Some weeks prior to the release I have sent it to a couple of people in who’s taste I trust, and just recently Michael Hodgson, reviewer of progarchives.com, sent me the following message:

* * *

„I just wanted to say that I listened to your download of "The Trees Of Olivandá" twice today, and it's truly wonderful!!

So much variety, so much movement, tons of deep space synths with lots of soloing, but I loved all the modern beats and dance moments too. It perfectly balances vintage Schulze/TDream/Jarre/Berlin School styles with modern sounds.

I think it's a particularly accessible disc as well, without ever being too lightweight or insubstantial. It's just very melodic without sacrificing atmosphere or intelligence. You should be really proud of it!

You said this was going to be a Syngate release, yes?“

You can order the album from directly on Syngate (...it also will be on their Bandcamp page soon).

Also, Kilian will present it at the Syngate booth at the Electronic Circus Festival in Detmold this weekend... Smile

It's always nice to get a (positive) reaction to something you did by a stranger* - like in the case of a listener named Nick Lees, who posted these friendly words the other day on the album's Bandcamp page (thanks for that!) Very Happy

"This is a real gem. Sparkling synth lines flow seamlessly the length of the album. Highly recommended."

* ...well, I suppose we're still strangers, then again in the online world, you never know.

Wink

Thank You very much! Smile

As for the cover: I'm a BIG fan of Andreas Schwietzke really, and I'm always more than happy to use some of his exceptional illustrations. There are more of them inside of the physical package, btw:

The first review of "Trees Of Olivandá" has arrived today, by Michael Hodgson of progarchives.com, and I'm very happy (and indeed considerably proud) that it's a very positive one (again), saying things like:

(Trees of Olivandá) "...is a seventy-six minute mostly continuous selection of deeply immersive Berlin School space music, that achieves a perfect unison of respect for the vintage prog-electronic masters and cool contemporary sound of modern influences, formless ambience and rhythmic-driven momentum, and there's not a poor moment to be found in its entirety."

"Followers of this underrated modern prog-electronic composer will likely return to this one constantly, and it even makes for a perfect introduction for newcomers to the superb space music of Michael Brückner.

Four and a half stars, and one of the best prog-electronic releases of 2017. "

Big thanks to Harald Gramberg, who has written a wonderful review of "Trees of Olivandá", for his online music magazine "Hippiesland"! Very Happy

You can read it - in German - following this link, or read my (rough) English translation below:

Michael Brückner - Trees of Olivandá
CD, Release 28.09.2017

The name Michael Brückner should certainly not have escaped the attentive readers of our online magazine, he has delivered yet less than a year ago a really exciting interview. And just recently, we have published a short article on his new project Bridge to Imla, which he has created together with Hans-Dieter Schmidt, and of which a first album will be released in the foreseeable future.

But today we will discuss his most recent solo album entitled "Trees of Olivandá", which was released on 28 September 2017 on the quality label for electronic music, SynGate Records:

Trees of Olivandá

Once again a true stroke of genius by the master of the Berlin School and ambient music with refreshingly new (and at the same time tried and tested) Brueckner-style sequences, universe-filling synth solos with astounding spatial depth - paired with very melodic, rhythmic and by means of occasional percussion sounds also quite danceable beats, without losing anything of its atmosphere, which is clearly in the vein of the ancestors of the Berlin school (Tangerine Dream / Klaus Schulze), and which isn’t drowning in mid-frequency mud either.

The album basically consists of a single track, even if divided into seven sub-tracks, and should therefore best be listenend to in its entirety. Would just be a pity to make a break in the middle and later to start again, because this way one would lose some of the overall impression. So relax, forget about space and time for just 80 minutes, get distance from everyday hectic, dive into the infinite depths of the universe and enjoy the unique sound that is offered to you here, and you will always want to enjoy it again…

However, if you want to a first impression, you can do this on SynGate’s Bandcamp site at https://syngate.bandcamp.com/album/trees-of-olivand.

You can also order this musical jewel directly on the homepage of SynGate Records under this link: www.syngate.biz/Michael-Brueckner-Trees-of-Olivanda

Yesterday, I created a new trailer video for the album, especially featuring the very deep and detailed cover illustrations by Andreas Schwietzke, and (partly) using different excerpts than on the first "trailer" on Soundcloud.

If You're interested, see here...
