tonight: Manuel Göttsching in Concert (live stream)
Posted Sat Feb 04, 2012 2:01 pm by Vignoble @ Co.
Concert News On Saturday, February 4th, Manuel Göttschnig will be performing at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) as part of an evening that is co-presented by CTM and transmediale. Over and above the notable visual accompaniment by New York’s Joshua Light Show, there is a special historical fiction surrounding Göttsching’s appearance at the HKW, an iconic venue of Berlin’s landscape that is instantly remarkable for its spacious and very open room-design and its hallmark curved roof.

Manuel Göttsching & Joshua Light Show - Live Streaming of the concert on Sa, 4th February 2011 at 9PM (German time!) !
For those who can not attend Manuel's concert with the Joshua Light Show in Berlin at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt as part of the transmediale

here is the link to the live stream: http://www.transmediale.de/en/tm2k12. Click on the field "What's on? Live Streaming" to your left.

EM News THOUGHT RADIO
http://soundscapes.us/thoughtradio

My next stint on Thought Radio, the Saturday edition of The AM/FM Show, will be Saturday, February 4 at 6 am EST/GMT-5. I will continue the special on Sequences Electronic Music Magazine's sampler CDs in Phase One. In Phase Three, you'll hear music by Moe Tar and from the new Colossus project, "Decameron: Ten Days in 100 Novellas - Part 1."

I host the show every other week. When I am at the helm, the show features electronic, ambient, and spacemusic at the beginning, an eclectic mix of genres in the middle, and winds up with Progressive Rock.

Tune in at 91.7 FM or on the internet at http://muhlenberg.edu/wmuh/stream.html

EMPortal's 5th

Portal Info

Although we like ‘after’ party’s there can only be one birthday Wink

Today (February 3rd, 2012) it is 5 years ago EMPortal started its journey with a mission: to build a platform for discussion, to spread the music we like, exchange of ideas, music and perception – a worldwide view on global electronic music.

Growth was not our main goal but after 5 years we can conclude that a population of over 800 members can be considered a serious sign of being ‘grown up’; appreciation and certainly one of the main motivators to continue and develop new initiatives and ideas.

Today we celebrate the mark on an era and the start of a new one. After 5 years I think we might say that 'The Portal' in a certain way has become a ‘launchpad’ for ‘space travelling’ and emportal.info a true synonym for The Gateway to Electronic Music.

February 3rd, 2007 was a special day as after a week of experimentation it became clear that we had found a good balance between content and ‘look’ which explains why today’s appearance doesn’t look so different from what we created 5 years ago. The logo, layout and many familiar forums became popular meeting spots and remained as they originally started. However the most important became the members and visitors who made us what we are now.

A few things and people should be mentioned:

- Dirk van Rumpt and Richard Lainhart; EMP members who passed away in 2011 and who will be deeply missed,
- Kimmo Heikkilä; our designer for his tremendous work and efforts
- Max Delissen; for his work completing The Album
- Rene (van der Wouden) for being there the early ‘days’
- Stef (VCO1) for being there always

And

For their commitment to this place and symbolising many others for their faith and input I would like to mention the members that registered the first day (February 3rd, 2007) and still visit us on a regular basis:

Altus, qwave, M@kz . . .

Stefan Erbe´s new release united several new tracks of his different 2011 projects. Most of the tunes are part of his monthly "sound of Sky" - planetariums-show and goes into a renewed way, finding something as a contrast to his past productions. The sound is influenced by orchestral instruments combines with tunes, that he didn´t used before. Official release date is Feb. 5th as a download product at amazon, itunes etc. A regular CD will follow at March 2012.

Robert Schroeder - D.MO Vol. 3 (Spheric Music SMCD 2026)
Posted Sun Jan 29, 2012 9:26 pm by Vignoble @ Co.
New releases Image

Unreleased tracks of the golden 80s

Robert Schroeder - D.MO Vol. 3 (Spheric Music SMCD 2026) Because of the great demand on old unreleased recordings, like the ones on the first two editions of D.MO Vol. 1 and D.MO Vol. 2, Spheric Music decided to encourage Robert Schroeder for a third release of this series.
Robert searched his treasure box and indeed found some jewels from the good old time. If you listen to the music you can not believe that these works have been produced during 1981-1991: The sound quality is excellent.

If you hear the old sounds of the drum computer or the typical earworm melodies, the charme of the 80s become vivid. Just listen to track 4 Passing Landscapes and you know why this album is worth-while listening.
In comparison to the first editions you will find more upbeat and light melodic titles on this Robert Schroeder-typical album.

The ZEST unofficial Tangerine Dream PDF newsletter
Posted Sun Jan 29, 2012 4:52 pm by 24db
EM News The Zest?
The Zest is my unofficial newsletter covering all of the latest Tangerine Dream news, as well as looking back at the band's formative years. All editions (including back issues: 1- 14 + special updates) are now available as 10-25 page PDFs. The latest issues are text only and therefore should be compatible with most handheld devices. If you'd like your name added to the mailing list then please send me an email at ZestAndy6304 AT aol.co.uk (replacing AT with @) with ZEST as the title (blank emails only, no correspondence please. You'll receive all PDFs via a different email address, so check your spam folder). Currently there are 187 people on the mailing list.

http://thezest-2010.blogspot.com/

NEW: NB: You can now download the ZEST issue # 14 PDF via the above link - for a nominal fee of just 20p, using PAYPAL. I'm just using this as it seemed the easiest way to do things. ALL of the money (if any) will be donated to a charity of your choice at the end of the year - I will run a poll to see which organisation is the most popular. Everyone on the mailing list will continue to receive the newsletter for free (full details are on the main page and over on the ZEST facebook site). I'd personally prefer it if people just continued signing up for the mailing list and got the ZEST for free, but I understand downloading it directly might be the preferred option for some people. Now you have a choice.

Synth&Sequences (Week of January 30th, 2012)
Posted Sat Jan 28, 2012 11:13 pm by phaedream20
EM News Hi, here are the links to the reviews I wrote on the last 2 weeks. Take note that I won’t post until 3 weeks as I’ll be on the south of the hemispheres for the next weeks but I’ll do listen to some music but won’t writing…Until February 20th enjoy life 

Pyramid Peaks’ 5VOR12 is a great EM opus. It’s another kicker from Axel Stupplich's gang:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2012/01/pyramid-peak-5vor12-2011.html

What more can I add except that ['ramp] is really out of this world and Return proves it easily:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2012/01/ramp-return-2011.html

When EM meets avant-gardism music, it gives Future from 23fish:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2012/01/23fish-future-2011.html

Yet, another avnat-gardist EM works with a somber and claustrophobic touch; Evangelum Secundum from Sbizzi faBIO:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2012/01/sbrizzi-fabio-evangelum-secundum-2011.html

CORE is a fine EM album from Erik Seifert who seems largely influenced by Jean Michel Jarre on this one:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2012/01/erik-seifert-core-2009.html

More recent, Poles is the fruit of Erik Seifert, Max ''Maxxess'' Schiefele and Josef Steinbuechel. They give us Poles, a nice and melodic EM opus:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2012/01/triple-s-poles-2011.html

Olivier Briand is a very interesting artist from France and Transparences really worth the try:
http://synthsequences.blogspot.com/2012/01/olivier-briand-transparences-2011.html

I know I’m late but I’m still doing the writing. Still on my desk to be review new opuses from Ron Boots, TMA, Alien Nature, Komendarek & Rudz and lots of Indra. So be sure to visit Synth&Sequences once a while and have a great time. Top 10 is postponed much much later…
May life be good
