RIP Mark Ward
EM News Poster: BruecknerAmbient - Date: Mon Sep 25, 2017 12:14 pm
This morning I was shocked to find the terrible news that British ambient / electronica artist Mark Ward has passed away recently. Crying or Very sad

He was a gifted electronic musician and also a long-time online friend.

Just listening to his latest release, which is very beautiful...

Made an interesting find in my loft yesterday in a dusty box of cassettes long forgotten..... INKEYS No6 on cassette from 1983... Shocked

I've a vague memory of buying this very cheaply (50 pence if I recall) from a second music store maybe some 16 years ago....
...listening to it perhaps once (I'm not even certain if I did listen to it), and then it found it's way into the loft to be long forgotten....

Looking at the track listing is interesting....

Side A
Richard Pinhas - Iceland
Bernard Xolotl - Procession
Steve Jolliffe - Journeys Out of The Body
Didier Bocquet - Pictures of Life
Tim Story - In Another Country
Peter Frohmader - Necropolis II
Eddy Sayer - Music for People

Side B
Tangerine Dream - Hyperborea
Michel Huygen - Capturing Holograms
M.A.L - Two Faces
Danner & Clement - A Gradual Awakening
Crystal - Rainbow Voyager
Fondation - La Vaisseau Blanc
Mainframe - Tenants of the Lattice Work

Given this thing's now 34 years old I'm not sure if it even plays anymore?

Does anyone collect these or know anything about them?

There appears to be very little on the internet about them...

All I can remember it is that it was one of a series,
a sort of promotion/review compilation of forthcoming new albums of the day.... IMHO interesting none the less.... Wink

Luckily I've still got the means (a tape deck) to play it on, so it might be worth checking out.... that's assuming it still plays ? Laughing

The latest release by Alpha Wave Movement is now available on cd and for digital download.

rmi - 'Lost in Transit' series now on Bandcamp
EM News Poster: Daniel - Date: Sun Sep 24, 2017 12:03 pm
Weirdest co-incidence: driving home on Friday night with some old rmi on the car audio, thinking "it's been a while since I have bought any new rmi releases - I wonder if the 'Lost in Transit' series will make it onto Bandcamp?"

...and when I get in there are emails from Bandcamp announcing the release of the whole series! Shocked

syndae - episode 404
EM News Poster: treibklang - Date: Fri Sep 22, 2017 8:00 pm
Well, I was tempted to make this episode a web like 404, not found. But, hey, what would be the point? This way it got far better in that I have a real listening treat in four parts, which are really four short stories in traditional electronic music. Back to syndae's root, home of sequences and long running tracks. Exactly the kind of music one needs for a relaxing longer journey, if you are no speedster. I am not, and listening to this music, I can see the world passing by just fine when riding along. Ok, now have fun with the latest edition featuring tracks by ['ramp] (Synchronize Or Die), DASK (Messages), Sequentia Legenda (Ethereal), and Akikaze (Solstice).

The finest road trip on

Yours, Stefan

Thaneco - "Oceanides" Ambient/Berlin-sch./Melodic
New releases Poster: thaneco - Date: Wed Sep 20, 2017 1:04 pm
Hello to everyone in this lovely forum. I would like to let you know about my new album that is recently released in bandcamp as a digital download and is called "Oceanides" .
Oceanides (or Oceanids) where ancient greek goddesses-nymphs that lived in the sea, the forrest, the rivers, and the clouds. There where thousands of them. I was very inspired by the stories of these goddesses and decided to compose this concept album. I decided to choose eight oceanids and write eight "musical portraits" to represent them. I hope you will enjoy my music and support me. Thanks!!

Michael Brückner - "Newsletter" (various updates)
EM News Poster: BruecknerAmbient - Date: Fri Sep 08, 2017 4:45 pm
Just posted this update about my humble musical endeavours (some of them also involving some musical friends) over at FB and thought maybe it's also of interest to some of You here...

At the moment it seems to be a good time to finally finish a couple of musical projects that have (rather) silently been growing in the pipeline for months, partly even years. Some of them (most, actually) will - provided everything works out as planned - see the light of day still this year...

For example:

I have just finished working on the covers of two new albums (one of them featuring amazing artwork by masterful fantasy artist Andreas Schwietzke) - one of them will be my next release on Syngate, entitled "Trees of Olivandá" - quite a traditional EM offering, lot's of sequencing, soloing and chirping space effects.

The other one will be the debut album of "La Mansarde Hermétique" (the ambient/electronica improvisation duo constituted of Mathias Brüssel and myself...). There will be a free digital release of "The Hâunted Attic" on a net label (not entirely sure which one at the moment, will be announced soon) - and we're probably offer a small CD-r edition via Bandcamp (because we like the complete CD artwork so much... 🤣 )

Another project which - just like the other two - is already completely recorded and mastered and in fact is just waiting for it's turn to be released by the label (still secret which one!) is a deep ambient opus with beautiful melodic, and partly "cinematic" passages, by Hans-Dieter Schmidt and myself.
Actually, I'm looking ESPECIALLY much forward to this release - it will be on REAL (industrially pressed) CD, it was mastered by a master of his trade, and is in my opinion one of the best albums I have been involved so far - I'm really proud of it!

Mr. Green

Concerning this project, it also has to be announced that we decided to release it (and hopefully more albums in the future) un... (Read More)
